As artificial intelligence (AI) becomes increasingly integrated into everyday life and behavioral health care, providers are encountering new opportunities, and new questions, about how these tools should be used in practice. From documentation and workflow support to clients turning to AI-powered chatbots for information and support, AI is changing the context in which behavioral health professionals deliver care.

In this session, clinicians, peer support specialists, case managers, supervisors, and other direct service providers will explore practical, day-to-day considerations for navigating AI in care delivery. Participants will gain a foundation in key AI concepts and current applications while examining how AI can support professional expertise, clinical judgment, and human connection.

The session will explore appropriate and inappropriate uses of AI in behavioral health practice, including considerations related to documentation, workflow, and clinical support. Speakers will also address the growing role of AI in clients’ lives and offer guidance for responding to clients who use AI tools and chatbots for mental health information, support, or guidance.

Grounded in ethical practice, the discussion will examine transparency, informed consent, privacy, boundaries, and the importance of maintaining human oversight in AI-supported environments. Participants will leave with practical strategies for integrating AI thoughtfully while continuing to provide safe, person-centered, and human-centered care.

AI-Readiness Quiz:

We invite you to complete a free 10-question, 2-minute quiz that shows exactly where you stand with AI before the webinar.
