Networking and Resilience Sessions

Networking and Resilience Sessions were highly interactive sessions to facilitate networking, connections, and resilience building via facilitated activities, breakout sessions and more. As busy leaders, it is difficult to take time for personal growth; these sessions were designed to teach new skills to allow us to be resilient, bold, strong and innovative as we work to improve the health of our communities. These sessions were not recorded to encourage full and open participation of attendees.

Connect & Refuel 1: Digging into Gratitude

Research shows mindfulness, gratitude, and connection strengthen our immune systems, improve sleep, and increase our overall resilience. However, it’s hard to practice mindfulness and gratitude when one is in a busy health care leadership role. Practicing gratitude can help also help increase cooperation by reducing our urge to compete with others.  The purpose of this session is to:

  • Explain the concept of resilience and engage in resilience-building activities
  • Introduce gratitude and an optional ongoing gratitude practice

Connect & Refuel 2: If you were 10X Bolder…?

What would you do if you were 10 times bolder?  Sometimes it takes just a spark of imagination, a seed of commitment and a vision of your potential to lead to create lasting and visionary change. The purpose of this session is to:

  • Encourage novice innovators to think boldly, come up with practical first steps and testable hypotheses
  • Learn how to create an environment where good ideas and focused experiments can bubble up
  • Spark energy among diverse views while building coherence

Connect & Refuel 3: Re-STORY-ing – Shifting from Deficit to Strength

Survivors of traumatic events – individuals or communities – can benefit from the process of healing by identifying their strengths.  Learning to re-story the experience from one of trauma to strength can shift the outcome.  The purpose of this session is to:

  • Self-identify our personal strengths gained as a result of trauma and understand why we share the strengths, not the trauma
  • Understand how we can leverage the strengths of a community while healing from injustice
  • Apply this understanding to the story of organizations and the challenges they face to survive, grow and thrive

Connect & Refuel 4: Creative Destruction

We can clear space for innovation by letting go of what we know (but rarely admit) doesn’t work the way it used to. More than ever, 2020 is a year that invites creative destruction.  Work with colleagues to name and tame the monsters that hold us back! The purpose of this session is to:

  • Understand the lifecycle of projects or initiatives and where we tend to get stuck
  • Identify what we can let go of in order to make space for innovation
  • Explore why it is hard to let go and how we can move forward to a better future
