The Coaches

Overview

The Equity-Grounded Leadership Fellow Program coaches support Fellows by providing one-on-one coaching tailored to individual leadership goals. The coaches guide Fellows through courageous inquiry of their personal and professional biases that impact how they view themselves and others.

Current Cohort Coaches

Elijah Jones

Elijah (he/him/his) is the Senior Manager of Programs and Services for the Mental Health & Recovery Services Board of Lucas County, a county government agency responsible for ensuring a continuum of behavioral health services exists for residents. He remains intentional in informing his work with trauma informed care principles, cultural humility, and justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion.. His work has been recognized locally and nationally.

April Ludwig, LMFT

April is a pragmatic and critical thinker, specializing in consulting, compliance, education, and business development. Currently serving as CEO-Elect for Hope Cooperative, April streamlines practices, provides professional coaching, and resolves organizational matters. With a passion for effective business practices, quality improvement, and privacy regulations, she has consistently delivered impactful results throughout her career.

Destiny Moore Saldívar

Destiny is a coach and licensed social worker passionate about holistic wellness for people of color. She founded Caona Wellness to help people, especially womxn, reconnect with their strengths and values to empower conscious choices that lead to more fulfilling lives. She has led over 35 wellness workshops for various companies, organizations and schools, supported dozens of clients 1:1 and raised over $6,000 for wellness causes both domestic and abroad.

Erica Shaw

Erica Shaw is a Maxwell Leadership Certified Coach, Trainer, and Speaker dedicated to elevating organizations through impactful leadership development training and coaching. Erica has focused on developing E&I strategies that encompass both individual and interactive learning, clear accountability, and heart-changing storytelling. Her goal is for every leader to feel comfortable and confident being their authentic self.

Magdalena Sunshine Serrano (she/her/hers)  is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker specializing in Trauma-Informed treatment of Indigenous populations. Since 2016, she has served as the Director of Behavioral Health and Psychiatry Services for the Community Health Centers of the Central Coast, Inc. She has a Master’s of Social Work from USC and a Certificate in Public Health Training for American Indian Health Professionals from Johns Hopkins, Bloomberg School of Public Health. In 2021, she was named Ambassador of the Year for the Trauma Resource Institute for her leadership role in supporting the healthcare workforce throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. She is a fellow of the California Health Care Foundation Health Care Leadership Program, and her research focused on developing a telehealth-based behavioral health integration model. Magdalena was a member of the inaugural cohort of the California Primary Care Association’s Leadership Equity Program in 2022. In 2024, Magdalena completed the Equity Grounded Leaders Fellowship Program through the College for Behavioral Health Leadership. Magdalena’s efforts as an executive coach aim to challenge institutional racism in the behavioral health field by cultivating a decolonized and culturally centered workforce grounded in access, equity, and community engagement. Her vision for behavioral health service models is one in which the collective healing of mind, body, land, and spirit is uplifted at all levels.

Elizabeth Martinez

Ms. Martinez is a purpose-driven, solution-oriented, transformational leader who specializes in supporting executives and professionals to strengthen their impact and influence as they evolve into their next level of authentic leadership. In addition to her coaching work, Ms. Martinez is the current President and CEO of a nonprofit (social profit) organization. 

Jeffrey Ring, PhD

Dr. Ring is a clinical psychologist, health care consultant, and master educator who knows culturally responsive integrated health care from the inside out. He is an executive leadership coach and assists leaders and teams in productive functioning toward effectiveness and competitive advantage. Jeff is a Clinical Professor of Family Medicine at the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California and serves on the faculty of their Master’s in Medical Education program. 

Dawn Tyler Lee

Ms. Tyler Lee is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Forrest Street Consulting (FSC), a firm that specializes in helping grow leaders and helping leaders grow through coaching and training. Dawn has been featured in Business First, Columbus Monthly Magazine, Columbus Alive! and Who’s Who in Black Columbus. She has received numerous awards, including being named a YWCA Woman of Achievement. 

Adam Swanson, MPP

Adam provides direct consultation support to several state agencies, U.S. territories, and other public health systems regarding the implementation and improvement of public health approaches to suicide prevention. In his role, he focuses on the development, management, and leadership of group learning and practice transformation initiatives.

Monica Guzman

Monica is a daughter, sister, wife, friend and coach who strives to ensure that her work always impacts her own community. Believing deeply in sharing power and taking care of each other, she walks alongside people and organizations to empower them to grow however they see fit. Monica currently works at Axis Talent Partners as a Sr. Search Operations Manager. There she focuses on bringing equity to the hiring process for social impact organizations.
